Gunthorpe Hall is surrounded by twenty three beautiful acres including
flower, fruit and vegetable gardens, parkland, paddocks and a lake. The
gardens have been restored after years of neglect and saved from a return to
wilderness. Great efforts continue to be made in their maintainacne and
further improvements and organically home-grown fruit and vegetables are
available in season. Guests are welcome to use the Hall's grounds with the
exception of the vegetable and private gardens. Facilities such as
bicycles, fishing, croquet and badminton are available.
The village of Gunthorpe is located in a lovely part of Norfolk mid-way
between Fakenham and Holt. The unspoiled and beautiful beaches of Blakeney
and Holkham are nearby. The countryside offers a paradise for bird
watching, walking and cycling, and the scenery is a paradise for the painter and
photographer. There are many fine buildings within easy reach including
Holkham Hall, Sandringham and Blickling Hall, the latter being one of the first
and finest National Trust houses. The attractive local towns have many
interesting antique shops and markets.
